The GOT Farms group had another successful growing season in 2012. The efforts of our students, combined with the hard work of our summer volunteers, produced a record harvest this fall. Our fresh produce has been featured in the Telstar Cafeteria throughout the month of September. This season, we focused mostly on planting vegetables that could be harvested after students returned to school in the fall. However, we also planted and harvested lettuce and a few other vegetables for the monthly public supper events at the Bethel Alliance Church. Our school greenhouse helped us to produce healthy seedlings and continued to be a center for expressing our creativity. We created another beautiful gourd house and expanded “Squash Hill” to include melons and potatoes. We plan to continue experimenting with food production both inside and outside the greenhouse in the coming months.
